Kenzan for Ikebana

Kenzan is a plant stand that derives from the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging, i.e. ikebana. What does kenzan look like? It comes in various shapes, while the most popular and universal is the round kenzan. In our store you will find it in two variants: with a diameter of 61 mm and 43 mm. The surface of the kenzan is filled with sharp "spikes" on which flowers are "stuck". The use of kenzane allows for:

  • creating a minimalist composition in the style of ikebana,
  • stable fixation of plants in the vessel,
  • creating a linear arrangement of plants that will emphasize their original form.

Kenzan works best for cut flowers. In the art of ikebana, all kinds of branches and cut greenery are also popular. A unique, but very interesting solution is the use of dried flowers. Kenzan is made of stainless steel, which means it is extremely durable and can be used in contact with water. What's more, the metal form of kenzan cover is a rubber cover, which additionally stabilizes the composition and protects the vessel from scratches. Kenzan is gaining popularity for one good reason. It is a great and sustainable alternative to a floral foam, which florists gradually give up using. Kenzan is an investment because it is an extremely durable and quality item. Unlike a floral foam, it can be used multiple times, making it a good product for the environment.

What is Ikebana?

Ikebana is the Japanese art of arranging plants. It is also one of the important elements of Japanese culture. The first mention of ikebana appeared as early as 735 AD. Ikebana is characterized by minimalism, linear form and symbolism. The most famous styles of ikebana are called rikka, seika, moribana, heika and nageire. In ikebana, they are used for both cut flowers, as well as branches and leaves. Ikebana can also be supplemented with moss, stones, pieces of wood or other natural additives. Plants are placed in a suitable vessel or kenzan.
